The Chinese foreign ministry has announced its rejection of the White House’s decision to ban TikTok.
The White House gave 30 days to all federal agencies to remove TikTok from all government agencies, with China-owned social media application under increasing surveillance in Washington on security concerns.

The United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) called Monday’s directive “decisive action to address the risks posed by applying sensitive government data.”
Some agencies, including the Ministries of Defence, Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs, have already imposed certain restrictions on "TikTok", and the guidelines call on other federal agencies to follow within 30 days.
The White House does not allow the use of TikTok on its devices.
“The Biden-Harris administration has made significant investments in defending our country’s digital infrastructure and in combatting foreign adversaries' access to U.S. data,” said Chris DeRocha, Federal Chief Information Security Officer. “ These guidelines are part of the Administration’s ongoing commitment to securing our digital infrastructure and protecting the security and privacy of Americans.
The Reuters news agency was the first to announce the new directive.
Congress passed a law stipulating that TikTok should not be used in government agencies last December.
The law allows the use of TikTok in certain cases, including for national security and law enforcement purposes.
